Edisto Lodge No. 39 was established by the Order of the Grand Lodge of the Grand lodge of the State of South Carolina during their annual meeting in Laurens, S.C., December 15, 1897. The first meeting was held in the Voluntary fire Department on Treadwell Street. The officers were elected were as follows: Worshipful Master Bro. S.R. Youngblood, Senior Warden D. Moorer, Junior Warden T.J. Levey.
